Young beetroot plants

Young beetroot plants

The first strawberries!

The sunshine and rain have made everything grow in abundance. The first straberries are apearing through the beds of straw, huge shiny red and best of all they taste divine!  The beans are doing well too, celery, crisp lettuce that is popular with our guests and we have big fat round radishes. I had to take a photo of the  lovely upright purple stems on the young beetroot plants. Yesterday I went up the field to see our rows of onions and potatoes and was pleasantly surprised they are doing so well, they will be due another weed soon. Apart from that our experiment of planting them in one of the small tree plantation where the pigs have been seems to have worked although the final test will be in the tasting.  I am excited to try our early spuds having planted several varieties of Carrols heritage potatoes…. I will keep you posted on how they do.
