We have Newts

31st March 2009 | Southlands Farm News

We were mucking out the new stables when “hawk eyed Dee” found a rather torpid newt, she thought it was dead, so she brought it to show me ………..Then it MOVED!

Dee’s reaction was comical, what had been interesting had become a huge monster, she beseeched me to take it from her, being a gent I did. (though  a little teasing was enjoyed on the way) So Rosie and I put it in a pot and took a quick photo, we them made more secure accommodation for it in the form of a Tupperware box with paper taped down over the top, we read that newts are nocturnal so we planned to  have an evening photo shoot before releasing it, however the day progressed and we forgot about our guest until half past ten when we discovered he or she had escaped. So we never did get a picture of the brilliant orange underbelly.
