Directions
From the South:
Leave the A1(M) at junction 58, and take the A68 to Corbridge, the
rout bypasses Corbridge, (though you can go that way if you wish;
quite a good “8 till late” Co-op, off licence & various places to
eat, only 15 minutes from your destination) Carry on up the A68 to
Stagshaw Roundabout. Where there is a pub called the Errington Arms,
here you head North still on the A68 for about 6 ½ miles and turn
left, signposted Hexham. Travel 1.4 miles and turn right, signposted
Barrasford. At the tee junction turn right and go 1 ½ miles through
Barrasford then you turn right to Gunnerton. The cottages are on the
right in the middle of the village just past the phone box.
From the North:
Take the A68 south, taking care to stay with it where it joins the
A696 shortly after Rochester. From this junction travel 12.9 miles
then turn right, marked Barrasford Park (this turn off can easily be
missed) follow this road for about 2 ½ miles into the village of
Gunnerton, the cottages are on the left, the turning just before the
phone box.
From the West:
Take the A69 almost as far as Hexham, take the A6079 to Acomb, go
through Acomb, then Wall, go straight over the crossroads, at
Chollerton turn left (just before the Church) marked Barrasford and
Wark, follow this road through Barrasford for about 3.1 miles then
you turn right to Gunnerton. The cottages are on the right in the
middle of the village just past the phone box.
From the East:
Take the A69, carry on until the Wylam exit. Turn immediately right
and then take the first exit at the roundabout, follow this short
narrow road to a tee junction and turn left, (You are now on the
“Military Road” built on the course of Hadrian’s Wall by General
Wade to carry troops in the post-Jacobite years.) Follow the road
until you come to Stagshaw Roundabout and a pub called the Errington
Arms, here you head North on the A68 for about 6 ½ miles and turn
left, signposted Hexham. Travel 1.4 miles and turn right, signposted
Barrasford. At the tee junction turn right and go 1 ½ miles through
Barrasford then you turn right to Gunnerton. The cottages are on the
right in the middle of the village just past the phone box.
