The Feathers Inn pub is an old drovers inn nationally renowned for its ethical menus and community involvement. Eight times winners of Northumbria Dining Pub of the Year. Jamie Oliver Magazine said "If you only eat in one place in Northumberland, make it here".
This is the only restaurant that we supply our Dexter beef to.
In an idyllic location overlooking the Tyne Valley and the market town of Hexham, the Rat boasts spectacular views from its stunning terraced beer garden.
Set in the small hamlet of Anick, the Rat overlooks the village green and surrounding countryside with the River Tyne in the distance curving round towards the ancient Roman village of Corbridge. An attractive ivy clad, sandstone building built into the hillside,probably with stone plundered from nearby Hadrians Wall,with a terraced beer garden popular in summertime.
In the cosy bar a cast iron range blazes away with a further log burning range at the opposite side of the room.The ceiling is low and beamed with the famed collection of chamberpots hanging from the ceiling.The bar fashioned from a great oak sideboard has once clearly seen service in a grand country home.
Run by Phil and Karen who previously owned the successful, Michelin rated Green Room restaurant in Hexham,The Rat is famous for its hearty and traditional locally sourced food,good wine,fantastic hand pulled beers and welcoming atmosphere.
The Rat is mentioned in many guides,including Michelin, Alastair Sawdays,Good Food, Good Beer and Good Pub Guides & Hardens.The pub has also attracted national press recommendations including The Sunday Times,The Week Magazine,The Telegraph and also inclusion in Jay Rayners 20 best places to eat in Britain in summer published in the Sunday Observer.
Joe Simpson is an old fashioned butcher, he was forced to close down as a result of the raft of new legislation that came in in the wake of foot and mouth but he then reopened when EU legislation made it possible for us to have small slaughterhouses again.
We use Joe because he does the best for our animals, stress free and no fuss he fits in with our ethos; "give them a good life, end it quickly and well, then enjoy the proceeds without waste."
Joe is an old fashioned butcher with old fashioned values. He is third generation to farm and butch at ‘The Croft’ in Cockfield. Simpsons Butchers have been established for over 100 years...
David and Jemma have made a fantastic little business out of The Crown. It's all about community, good food and good value.
The Northumberland Cheese Company was established in 1984 by Mark Robertson in the green tranquillity of the Rede Valley, which once sheltered the infamous Border Reivers of centuries gone by. Our first cheese, Redesdale, handmade from ewes' milk at our Elsdon Hill Farm, was such a success with the locals that word soon spread, and as our range expanded to include fine cows' and goats' milk cheese, national and indeed international accolades began to pour in.
The Doddington Dairy is situated on our family farm, nestled at the bottom of the Cheviot Hills in the Glendale Valley of Northumberland.
Cows from the Doddington Dairy have grazed contentedly here on the farm for over 50 years. North Doddington is now one of the few dairy farms left in Northumberland

Campcolis Gundog Training Centre is owned and run by husband and wife team John & Dot Clark. Set in 3 acres and situated in beautiful Northumberland in the North Tyne valley where both John & Dot have lived all their lives, and brought up their two daughters.
John has been training and working dogs for over 20 years and what started as a hobby training dogs for friends has become a business. John and his team of dogs pick up on three Estates. Dot sees more to the day to day running of the kennels, the feeding and breeding, and the bookings!
John runs puppy classes for working or pet dogs, he also does group training or one-to-one sessions, and has facilities for residential training, and he also has a training pen which can be hired.
We provide exclusive natural history excursions and bird watching tours with an enthusiastic, experienced and friendly leader with an intimate knowledge of Northern Britain.
