A Monochrome Fox Tale at Southland Farm Cottages: Saying Goodbye and Welcoming New Feathered Friends

Here at Southland Farm Cottages, we strive to create a peaceful and restorative environment for our guests and our resident animals. Unfortunately, nature had other plans for our flock of hens recently. One night, a badger snuck into their coop and sadly took six of our lovely ladies.

We were heartbroken to discover the loss. Our hens were not just egg-layers; they were part of the Southland Farm family. They strut around with their friendly clucks and providing us with delicious, fresh eggs for breakfast.

While we mourn the loss of our feathered friends, we’re also firm believers in new beginnings. That’s why we’re thrilled to announce that we’ll be welcoming six new hens to Southland Farm Cottages from Fresh Start for Hens (https://freshstartforhens.co.uk/1-registration-form/).

Fresh Start for Hens is a wonderful organization that rescues battery hens and rehomes them in loving environments. These hens will have a chance to experience the joys of free-range living, scratching in the dirt, enjoying dust baths, and laying eggs in a safe and secure coop.

We’re excited to welcome our new feathered friends to the farm. We’ll be sure to introduce them properly in a future blog post, and we can’t wait for them to become part of the Southland Farm experience.
